By my lights...
One Direction is one of the fondest memories I have of my girlhood.

On this occasion I want to share something about my youth, a little story of my life that I remember with so much love. Well, I have deep inside me the vivid memory of the day I met One Direction, as if it were yesterday. I remember I was at some friends' house, and they told me about a pop band that they really liked. And at the moment I saw and heard them for the first time, I went a fool for them, haha. A couple of weeks passed after finding out about their existence, and I already knew everything about their lives, or at least the little they showed about themselves. So, yep, I started being a "Directioner" hahaha, that's how their fans are called.

Remembering it now makes me laugh, because from that moment on I couldn't stop listening to their music and reading about them. I even read things that weren't real and the fans themselves gossiped, but I, like a fool, believed them all. Like the time fans said one of the members didn’t have a kidney, and it was all a tale, haha. At that time, all my classmates started to know about them because I couldn't stop talking about the band, and even some friends started to listen to their music and became fans. Obviously, there are always people who judge your tastes on music, as if it were a sin that you listen to a certain style of music, so there were certain classmates who couldn't bear to hear another word about One Direction, or perhaps my friends and I were just too unbearable? I will never know, hahaha.

As the big fan I was (let's say I still am) I also used to bought things about them, like bracelets, posters, magazines, etc. I even still keep some things in my memory box, and it makes me nostalgic every time I open it. I remember that when their movie was released in theaters, I went with my best friend at the time, and we had the cinema room just for the two of us, we were the happiest in the world. It may sound ridiculous to you, but I really feel that thanks to this band I had a really beautiful girlhood. I truly was the happiest young girl. In fact, I started listening to more music in English thanks to them, I could say that my taste for the English language started there. But the years go by, and many things happened with the band, if you didn't know the band split up 8 years ago (yes, it was the worst day of my life, haha).

Nowadays, each of them is doing their career separately, I follow them on all social networks and I still have a lot of affection to these guys. I like some more than others because each one makes a different style of music, but without a doubt they all are incredibly talented. Perhaps today I don't listen to them like before, but they made me extremely happy at the time and I will always remember my girlhood with so much love thanks to One Direction.

Thanks for reading me, xx.

  1. It is a really sweet memory! I am not so fond of this band, but I like some songs. In my case, it was horrible when I realized that my favorite singer had passed away because I really wanted to be in one of his concerts, but it will never be possible. I am also glad that you have decided to study English because of your favorite band.

  3. Woow it was great to read your entry especially because I'm also a directioner :3 and reading you made me remember my friends and I, we were all crazy about that band and we knew all their songs, although my favorite has always been Harry, since the band broke up, I have still followed everyone's career and I still listen to their songs from time to time.
